Paul: US has been arming ISIS in Syria
The Hill ^ | 06/22/14 | Rebecca Shabad

Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) said Sunday that the Sunni militants taking over Iraq have quickly gained power because the United States has armed their group in Syria.

“I think we have to understand first how we got here,” he said on CNN’s “State of the Union.” “We have been arming [the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria] ISIS in Syria.”

ISIS, an al Qaeda offshoot, has been collaborating with the Syrian rebels whom the Obama administration has been arming in their efforts to overthrow Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, Paul explained.

The administration has reportedly assisted the moderate opposition in Syria, but details about the dissemination of those resources are unclear.

“That is the real contradiction to this whole policy,” Paul said. “If we were to get rid of Assad,” it would become a “jihadist wonderland in Syria.”

So Mr. Paul.. did Obama or Bush arm ISIS?...because you and some other libertarians say Bush lost Iraq to ISIS but ISIS can’t fight without weapons..

Haven’t we learned ANYTHING since 1979? ANYTHING?

We have no Muslim “friends”. The Muslims cozy up to us when it benefits them in the short term. As soon as they don’t need us, they turn on us and kill us.

Until Islamic countries demonstrate a willingness to confront and FIGHT the militants OF BOTH SUNNI OR SHIA, we need to treat them like lepers.

There is little denying that ISIS was nurtured in Syria by the US. I believe the US knew who it was supporting even though they might claim there were many groups.

So, whether Rand Paul is liked or not liked has no bearing on what has been happening behind the scenes.

And now we are fighting those we formerly supported, and the likelihood of Obama’s 300 advisors facing ISIL armed with US provided weapons is very real.

Insane maybe?

Could we declare him unfit for office?

I remember that when the Egyptian military overthrew the Morsi and the Muslim Brotherhood that Obama sent McCain and Graham to Cairo to threaten the Egyptians.

I remember crossing off the deck of cards back in 2003... they never got that guy. I figured he’d been evaporated in a bomb strike of something.

I read someplace that twice there were claims he’d been killed. Apparently not.

A red headed dude that everyone’s looking for and re-emerges after 11 years. He’s got some mojo.

His presence explains why Sunnis in Mosul/Tikrit were just giving up. They want al-Douri to win. They hate Shi’ite Maliki. I read yesterday that intel services are saying he even took a PR tour through the area before the invasion and renewed old relationships.

No doubt the Saudis want us to

And when they say jump, the US Government says “how high?”

The Saudis were supporting the terrorists in Syria, too. Now we understand that al-Douri and his crew were battling the Talifani terrorists from Syria....al Nusra and the like, I think. I believe Syria is on their side...that would be the al Qaeda wannabe side. Apparently, the al quada side is acting publicly like it doesn’t like the Iraqi side.

And it could all be propaganda. What we do know is Obama has been arming terrorists in Syria and now he’s fighting some of those same terrorists in Iraq. It’s all insane.

Paul is terrible on immigration but first we have to worry about defeating amnesty until 2017.

I dont see how a divided GOP suddenly bends over and lets Rand get his way on everything.

If they don’t get amnesty by 2017 and somehow Rand gets elected, I think the donors may spend 4 years trying to hammer Paul on immigration if that is a way to get him out of office.

The establishment still doesn’t want Rand. They want Walker or Jindal or Jeb or Christie.

A lot of hawkish Congress members are law and order types on immigration like Steve King and Mike Rogers. They didn’t buy Jeff Flake’s amnesty bill. McCain, Graham, Kinzinger and Peter King are the main crossovers for amnesty and war.

Rep. Mike Rogers on the role of amnesty in Cantor’s defeat: “If GOP doesn’t take a lesson, I worry about the future of our party.”

My favorites: Cruz, Palin
Next tier, fully acceptable: Perry, Lee, Jeff Sessions, Martinez*

Not acceptable: Christie, Bush, Romney, Paul

Still Studying: Walker, Kasich, Jindal,

I will not support anyone who is not provably pro-life.

I will not support anyone who offers any immigration plan other than total control of borders (fence), coasts, harbors, airports, visas.
