I wouldn’t give them anymore senators but I wouldn’t mind seeing their electoral college votes split. The demos might lose a few electoral votes.
It’ll never happen. All areas will have huge losses in their tax base if the zones are divided. May as well make a hard-core junkie go cold turkey.
And crackpot it is. It is grandstanding pure and simple. Stands no chance of passage and less chance of approval. What will it do? It will drive Libs to the polls in a off year when CA was otherwise looking at low voter turnout.

Throw in Boulder Colorado, Travis County Texas and Dade County Illinois into one of the new “states” and I am all for it.
I'd be fine with a California break up if it came with a Michigan break up and an Illinois breakup and a Pennsylvania break up, etc, etc. that allowed Republicans and conservatives to declare independence from their Democrat controlled state governments.

Based on the distribution shown, it sounds like a grand idea. I’d like to see Ohio broken into three states, and Illinois into two. PA should be three. NY should be at least two. VA should be two, also.
The added Congressional headcount would add to the Electoral Vote count, and the new distribution would better represent areas currently under-represented in presidential elections.
This is NOT a bad thing.
This could be offset by turning New England into one state. New England is a lost cause so let’s reduce the number of Democrat senators from 11.5 to 2 (Ayotte is a democrat in any conservative state).
3 states might be okay .. but I’m not for 6 at all.

Division of California into six states would require approval of both the California legislature and the US Congress. I don’t think either are likely.
On the other hand, some Texans believe that The Lone Star State is preapproved by Congress to split into up to five states, according to the 1845 congressional resolution admitting the State. I think I could deal with ten senators from Texas. (I was born in what would have been the State of Jefferson, according to a proposal floated about a century ago.)
