It is certainly possible to stop tyranny by means of civil disobedience -- and is actually the best way. It worked in India, in Russia, in Poland, in Egypt, in S. Africa.
Bloody revolutions have a tendency to turn into a new tyranny, such as the French revolution, Cuba, Soviet Russia, Cina, etc.

What will be needed is massive civil disobedience on a very large scale and huge demonstrations in DC. But when will Americans get the same cojones as Poles, Cairo Egyptians, and the Ukrainians? That is the question.
