A SWAT team blew a hole in my 2-year-old son

After our house burned down in Wisconsin a few months ago, my husband and I packed our four young kids and all our belongings into a gold minivan and drove to my sister-in-law’s place, just outside of Atlanta. On the back windshield, we pasted six stick figures: a dad, a mom, three young girls, and one baby boy.

That minivan was sitting in the front driveway of my sister-in-law’s place the night a SWAT team broke in, looking for a small amount of drugs they thought my husband’s nephew had. Some of my kids’ toys were in the front yard, but the officers claimed they had no way of knowing children might be present. Our whole family was sleeping in the same room, one bed for us, one for the girls, and a crib.

After the SWAT team broke down the door, they threw a flashbang grenade inside. It landed in my son’s crib.

Flashbang grenades were created for soldiers to use during battle. When they explode, the noise is so loud and the flash is so bright that anyone close by is temporarily blinded and deafened. It’s been three weeks since the flashbang exploded next to my sleeping baby, and he’s still covered in burns.

There’s still a hole in his chest that exposes his ribs.

Sadly, in line with prior comments I’ve made, this ‘raid’ was likely the result of ‘informant-squeezing’...another felon giving whatever info he can to get off a charge.

The judge that approved the warrant is as culpable as SWAT...

That is why I oppose these kinds of raids outside the ghetto/inner city where they are actually needed.

The nephew in this case could have been picked up walking out of a convenience store by one or two officers. This kind of thing is needless and stupid. Cops involved in this need to face jail time.

>> “All police involved should be fired.” <<

.
All police involved in this should be charged with felony child endangerment, and the one that threw the grenade should be charged with attempted murder.

Nowhere have I ever supported such a thing. I have never supported the cops in these kinds of articles.

You know this. If you keep writing things like that you should be banned.

Good luck sir on this thread. I’ve been on many like this myself. An anti-dope conservative dealing with the hateful insults of liberals.

On Free Republic of all places!

And they don’t even try to hide their disgust at conservatives. It truly is an “us vs. them” mentality with them.

But when the ultimate libertarian (used to be Ron - now Rand) makes the news with another idiotic anti-conservative remark, they shut up and remain quiet.

Why in the name of God does Jim Rob allow their pro-dope messages to infest his site is beyond me.

I guess many of these libs are big donors to the FReepathons. So what can he do?

I’m out.

You don’t raid a house military style over the word of a rat, that is ridiculous. Cops who do that should go to prison for a very long time.

Do some actual police work for crying out loud. Know what you are dealing with. 99% of raids like this are probably totally unnecessary. Even the real suspects leave the house eventually to go shopping or whatever. Pick them up then.

Just like David Koresh could have been picked up in town, eliminating the need for the Waco raid. But where's the PR value in that?

Follow the money. Regardless of the intent of the law, regardless of the actual public good, what is actually happening is the cops are going for raids that look to maximize seizure revenue, while minimizing risk (both physical risk to the cops, and political risk to the politicians).

The inner city drug dealers are not the ones being targeted, for reasons listed earlier in this thread by me and others. The police depts are crying "We need military-grade equipment to go after the heavily armed drug gangs", but that never seems to happen. The police officers on the street are not stupid. They know better than to go after gang-connected drug dealers, when the gangs know (or can find out) where the cops live. The War on Drugs is a sham.

Yeah it is way to easy to get a no knock warrant. I suggest holding Judges and cops personally responsible for all property damage, injuries or deaths. If they break a window and no drugs are found the Judge who signed off has to buy a new window and install it on his day off.

Well, we never have won the “War on murder” or the “War against burglary” or the “War on Rape” — however no one is talking about legalizing them ... LOL ...

Do you want the government to go to war on burglary, rape. Or any other crime as they have done with drugs?

Libertarians will accuse a conservative who wants to gut the government by 99% of being a Statist tyrant if he opposes drugs, gay marriage and open borders.

Can you give me a verifiable example of that happening?

I don’t think any of them should be legalized, period. One of the functions of government that you see is endorsed by God in the Bible, is to go after criminals and make them fearful of continuing their crimes.

Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves” (Romans 13:1-2).

“Submit yourselves for the Lord’s sake to every authority instituted among men: whether to the king, as the supreme authority, or to governors, who are sent by him to punish those who do wrong and to commend those who do right” (1 Peter 2:13-14)

War on rape???

= no knock warrants on anyone with a penis!

Or who wishes they had one, or who once had one, or ever saw one.

The Forefathers, when the founded the country on Liberty, did not exempt the stupids from the freedom to make bad decisions for themselves.

Trying to save people from themselves is the fundamental reason why America is where it is today. There is no middle road about this issue, either people are allowed liberty for themselves, and be at risk of destroying themselves, or there will be no liberty for anybody.

Wow!!!! I used to go to main street too! Never saw that!
I did witness the son of the owner of bullseye once tell a cop to not come in with his gun. Cop said “but I’m a cop?” “I don’t care” was the guy’s response. LOL!

Cops are gangs....piss on them all!
