If polling shows it could be, Republicans won't have to spend that much money to remind a bright red state that Childers is a Democrat who will support an Obama supporting Senate. The vast majority of conservatives/Republicans will realize dethroning Reid is more important than holding a grudge about the slimy way Cochran won.
