Obama: ‘we should praise’ federal workers
Washington Post ^ | Jun 27, 2014 | Joe Davidson

Did you see what President Obama said about federal employees at a town hall meeting Minneapolis on Thursday?

The last question he took was from Katie Peterson, who works for the Defense Contract Management Agency.

“My co-worker here and friend, we’ve been working for the federal government for almost 29 years. And we feel really privileged that we’ve been able to serve that way,” she began.

“It’s been a great career, we love it, but lately, as you know, there’s been a few rough patches with three years of pay freeze and sequestration and furloughs. And we’re just kind of wondering what you foresee for the next fiscal year for government workers,” she asked.

Obama replied at length. We’ll let you read his answer for yourself in this transcript, courtesy of the White House, which was edited for length.

“Well, let me make a couple of points. First of all, folks in the federal government, the overwhelming majority, they work really hard doing really important stuff. … (applause) I don’t know when it was that somehow working for government — whether the state or local or federal level — somehow became not a real job, when you listen to some of the Republican rhetoric sometimes. …

Everyday I give thanks for all the federal workers. Yeh that’s the ticket.

I can tell you. It was when people with real jobs stopped getting raises, and their co-workers started getting laid off in droves, and all that work got dumped on the survivors with the warning, “complain and you’ll be in the next wave!”

He just never stops, does he? He’s a jumped-up little nobody who was raised above his level by others smarter than him (even if nefariously), to be used for their purpose. He only knows two scripts, “Blame Republicans” and “I don’t know, I heard about it on the snooze just like you”. For this he lives high on the hog at taxpayer expense. Smarmy little nothing, interfering in the lives of grown people to their detriment. Couldn’t hate him more if I tried.

Obozo seems to think the federal workers are harder workers and more important than the Military?

Yes of course. They get paid nearly twice what equivalent workers in the private sector are paid, can’t be fired, get lavish vacations, top-notch health benefits, and laugh while they’re telling us to go screw ourselves.

And I’m supposed to thank them for this.

And if you don’t kiss their asses, then you go on The Naughty List. Just look at the VA.
They act like spoiled, vengeful, thieving, nasty little eight year old kids.

Not to worry. When the economy finally collapses the first
people to get axed are government workers. Smarmy pr**ks will get theirs soon enough. Just look to Wiemar Germany.

Does the President include the IRS, the VA, and the EPA in his praise list?

I know many dedicated civil servants. But we also have a ton of bad apples. And the Hussein Clown Posse rewards the latter.

If you get a government paycheck (Federal, state, county, municipal) and are not a uniformed member of the Armed Forces you are very probably my enemy and an enemy of the land of my birth. An enemy either in the economic sense or in the “theft of God given rights” sense.

You think it is going to just be federal workers? You are so naive. Most companies take federal subsidies in order for them to survive. You need to get an education ASAP.

I dunno. When I worked in the private sector, it was weird.

Customers would come in or call, and you'd have to wait on them.

You didn't get to make them jump through hoops, wait on hold for half an hour, and then blow them off.

I got a nastygram from the IRS at the beginning of the third week of May. Sent a complete explanation back a week later, and have contacted them twice on the phone.

After 20 minutes or so on hold, I get a know-nothing who can't help me, and doesn't know when the "others" are going to act on my information.

I continue to receive nastygrams from their decrepit computer system, which the IT staff is apparently incapable of programming with the simplest of subroutines.

I get a mental picture of the Washington Monument as the "Washington Middle Finger".

How appropriate that Present Obama lives right next to it...
