I always loved Phil Collins. Now I know why - how awesome is it that he loved the story of the Alamo so much he spent his fortune collecting Alamo artifacts? He loves our country more than many of our politicians.

Always liked him and Genesis.

Home By The Sea and Mama are some of my favorites. His vocal dynamics were awesome.

Thanks Mr. Collins. Somebody inform Mr. Obama what the Alamo stands for.

Saw him years some years ago in concert. One of the best shows I have ever been to. He is a true performer.
Nice to see him do this.

Not a big fan of Phil Collins (with the exception of his musical contributions to Miami Vice). However, I thank him for his generous gift to the American people.

Patrick Bateman was a big Genesis fan.

That’s actually very cool. I’m not a huge fan of Phil Collins musically, but he’s a good egg in my book for what he’s doing here.

I never liked Phil Collins much. But I like him a lot more now.

We took the Flash Jrs. to the Alamo on a drizzly day last December, and Little Flash A got a coonskin cap. And yes, I got the kids the Fess Parker Davey Crockett DVD before we went.

Oh goodness, hubby hates Phil Collins so much! But hubby’s a yankee, so who cares?

I think it is lovely he’s returning his collection in this way.

I’ll have to break this to hubby gently, but good on you, Phil Collins!

More about what he is donating. Retired rock star Phil Collins 'recollects' the Alamo

..........."Among his treasures are one of Davy Crockett's rifles and his postdeath receipt from the Texian Army. They share space with Jim Bowie's knives, verbose William Barret Travis' letters, Santa Anna items and a snuffbox Sam Houston gave to a romantic interest.

That's only a few of the pieces from the Texas Revolution's big guns.

Perhaps more revealing about the depth of Collins' obsession are the hundreds of historical bits — buttons, dice, letters, weapons and IOUs — linked to the less-celebrated defenders who died at the Alamo or the hundreds of anonymous Mexican soldiers who perished with them March 6, 1836. "..................

At one time, the walking tour by listening device featured Mr. Collins as the narrator. It may still.

He’s an interesting guy.

Paid for David Crosby’s liver transplant.

Was a kid in the crowd in HARD DAY’S NIGHT.

I understand he can’t play drums anymore because of a health issue :(

A lot of the English became experts on the American Indians and the lore of the old west....I think it was so foreign to them that they were fascinated by it

Wonder what the chances of him having been there are?

It's kind of an odd obsession...

When I was a kid we would be playing outside and at least one or two of the Mom’s would step out side and scream Davy Crockett’s on. It was game over and all of us kids would go to the closest house and all sit in the floor in front of the TV. Mrs. Tempeltons house was the best, we only had two channels and her antenna got the best reception, she also made fresh bread daily and would give us a big slice with butter and jelly and a glass of milk.
