I’m starting to really appreciate closed primaries. I have adamantly opposed open primaries from the get-go. Political parties are formed by like-minded people who band together in order to promote their agreed-upon beliefs and principles. Open primaries undermine this concept.

The open primary isn’t the problem in Mississippi. The problem is in opening the runoff election to voters who didn’t vote in the primary. Close that loophole like we do here in Georgia, and you won’t have this problem.
