A man was shot and killed after he snatched a two-year-old girl out of a shopping cart and held her hostage in an Oklahoma grocery store.
The surveillance video shows the dramatic moments as wanted felon Sammie Wallace grabs a two-year-old girl inside the store in Midwest City.
The man grabbed the child from the shopping cart for no apparent reason and then began to hold a knife to her throat as he began to ramble and make crazy, incoherent demands.
As her mom screams for help, other shoppers call 911 and begin surrounding Wallace. Officers spent 30 minutes negotiating with the man before he was then shot in the head at point-blank range.
'He thought the child was being harmed and stabbed at the time he did the shooting,' said Midwest Police Department Chief Brandon Clabes.
'I mean we waited until the last second to use deadly force. No one wants to take a life, especially in the line of duty.'
Police said he began counting down from 60, moving the blade from the girl's stomach to her throat, according to KFOR-TV.

Well that's only going to end one way. Good thing the cop was brave enough to do what had to be done - in time.

Should have just shown the guys grey matter flying out the side of his head. After seeing that plenty of Scumbags might think twice and save some child’s live.

Wow! And good for the cop! It’s nice to hear about one doing the right thing. And just think, this lovely mother will never have to worry about this particular punk harming her daughter again. And not one penny will be spent on a trial and prison time. All in all, a good ending.
I’m very glad they shot and killed the perp. But honestly why take over 30 minutes trying to talk him down? The child’s life was in danger, and they immediately shoot regular folks and dogs for no good reason.
I don’t know. If a guy snatches a toddler and puts a knife to her belly, and counts down as he moves the knife to her throat, I don’t think it’s much of a decision at all. Just glad he acted instead of flinching.
Yeah I remember this from a year ago.
