It seems that denying Veterans timely access to care is a good-paying gig.
Yes, you could spend 12 years receiving medical training to become a surgeon or radiologist...
But not so great pay for a cardiologist or neurologist or surgeon.
It would be interesting to see what the percentage is doctors etc... and what is paper pushers.
The bonuses they received could have bought homes & track chairs for our wounded warriors. They have no conscience.
I can’t even imagine making that kind of dough..................

Insider retirement jobs. As I recall, in 2007 there were only a handful of government employees making over $150k. I question that anybody in a giant bureaucratic organization is worth more than $100k. In large organizations almost nobody has any real authority or responsibility. So, why are they highly paid?
I presume the highly paid group is mostly or entirely physicians. The 2014 GS ceiling, without locality pay, is $130,810. (See OPM.gov) Locality pay bumps that up in major metro areas, to a celing of $157,100. These figures are for a GS 15, step 10, which is the top of the pyramid for regular civil service.
SES employees may make more, but they are few in number.
The government can also pay more for physicians and, I presume, a handful of other specialties. But rank and file feds, while generously compensated, do not make $180,000.

Many of the people that work in a healthcare facility will be highly educated professionals that require higher salaries. Doctors, Nurses, ancillary department professional, I.T., and top management.
If you do not pay the industry average, you will not be able to staff your organization. The issue is not with high salaries but with management trying to cook the books to make themselves look better to the oversight committees. undisciplined management and poor oversight by those responsible.
Plus job security, plus a pension, plus I’m sure they aren’t working up too much of a sweat in their jobs. To rub salt in the wound, then they think they are engaged in “public service” so they can take a holier than thou attitude toward everyone else. Government employees really are turning into a Medieval ruling class.

DISMANTLE the VA. Give vets access to the market and not be corralled by the marxists.
I would imagine they are the specialized doctors. I would imagine that they would make a ton more on the outside. I am just glad that they are willing to work for the Federal Government at such a low wage.
