Marijuana-related arrests, which make up 50% of all drug-related crimes, have plummeted in Colorado, freeing up law enforcement to focus on other criminal activity. By removing marijuana penalties, the state saved somewhere between $12 million and $40 million in 2012, according to the Colorado Center on Law and Policy.
According to government data, the Denver city- and county-wide murder rate has dropped 52.9% since recreational marijuana use was legalized in January. This is compared to the same period last year, a time frame encompassing Jan. 1 through April 30.

It is likely that a lot of DWI arrests are due to drivers influenced by alcohol plus one or other illegal substances. Unless the driver has contraband on him, the arrest is generally based on blood alcohol levels, which are easier to obtain through breathalyzer tests. Blood tests take more time, which means higher personnel costs.
They get more money, but they also get less power. No longer is “I thought I smelled pot” carte blanche for a raid. And the more money is really just a byproduct of moving a large market from untaxed black to taxed white, can’t really be avoided.
They may find that they need fewer cops now.

It's like anything else, for example the use of mind-bending legal meds or the abundance of required vaccines. Long term studies of something require a few generations. All of these studies draw long-term conclusions from short-term results.
Anything that messes up reproduction will never go away.
There is just a bit of difference between legalizing a transaction between two willing individuals and the initiation of force of against a third party, the invasion his home, and the theft or destruction of his property.
Add to that, the dogs that are not being shot and the doors that are not being kicked and we have a serious win here.
Like what happened in all the other places that tried legalizing pot.

So because there is one set of drunks on the road, you think we should add more ways to put even more impaired drivers on the road?
And, YES, pot is a gateway drug.

How does that relate to the millions of kids born to stoners or former stoners over the years?
