Weather people finally have something they can dolt on for the next 4-5 days — provided the thing doesn't weaken.
Last season didn't give them much to be excited about. They are hoping for a better new season.

Models now in tight agreement: landfall tonight somewhere along the corridor from Cape Lookout to Cape Hatteras. That angle of arrival - almost matching the contour of those barrier islands - is gonna overwash that entire stretch of beach as water is pushed in... erosion is going to be the biggest problem there.
Last 1-2 hours of satellite pics looked to show a weakening eye as dry air was circulating in... hope that continues, though it does have all day to recover from that. Still wouldn’t be surprised if it was a high-Cat 1 by landfall.
