Gov. Jerry Brown 1975: Don't 'Dump Vietnamese' Refugees on California

Democratic Governor Jerry Brown once fought to keep out South Vietnamese refugees from being delivered to his state during his first stint as governor of California in the 1970’s, and although he remains silent on the crisis that is happening on the southern border of his state, Brown’s position, via legislation previously signed, on illegal immigrants from Mexico, Central and South America is much more favorable than the cool response he gave to the Vietnamese refugees who had escaped the tyrannical Viet Cong.

In 1975, Jerry Brown complained, that the federal government wanted to “dump Vietnamese on” California. “We can’t be looking 5,000 miles away and at the same time neglecting people who live here,” Newsweek reported at the time. According to The Washington Post, Larry Engelmann's Tears Before the Rain: An Oral History of the Fall of South Vietnam, writes that Julia Vadala Taft, who led the interagency task force for refugee resettlement, remembered Brown’s opposition.

Wouldn't want to upset his mexifornia voters now would he? How may dollars from la raza does it take to buy the governorship for california anyway? As for the liberals there, take a look at Venezuela as to what your state will become in the near future.

And they were our allies that we had an obligation to rescue from the communists.

We have a number of them where I live and goodness knows they are all running prosperous businesses, living in the suburbs, and proudly flying the S. Vietnam and American flags.

On top of that, they aren’t demanding that we all learn Vietnamese either.

Stories like this need to be front-and-center of the long list of liberal hypocricies. Jerry Brown has sucked in public for forty years, and his old man before that. The law passed under Pat Brown’s watch that Reagan signed in ‘66 regarding involuntary mental treatment has since that time been used by the left to smear Reagan. The left are the real filth. They are the ones now that pay Shaniqua to have feral bastard children.

Jerry “Moonbeam” Brown is long-time flip-flopper.

I’m old enough to remember when he was tooth and nail against Prop 13 before he read the political tea leaves and writing on the wall, then suddenly he was “for” Prop 13.

Now he’s anti-Prop 13 again.

The definition of a Progressive Flip-flop is defined as “Evolving”.

Brown and then Senator Joe Biden complained about the Ford administration’s move to bring Vietnamese refugees to the U.S., saying the White House “had not informed Congress adequately about the number of refugees." Liberal presidential icon George McGovern told Newsweek, “I think the Vietnamese are better off in Vietnam.”

I remember these clowns.. if the Vietnamese had been from the victorious Communist North Viet Nam they would have met the planes with red carpets and celebrated -- along with who NV Gen. Giap named his most valuable guerrilla, the American press.
