Thanks. This has been bothering me for a long time. Whenever I see “random” or “baffling” in a headline now, I just see red.

The NOPD was always a problematic police force but in the 90s a new wave of liberal thinking started taking hold. They demanded officers live in the neighborhoods they patrolled and resembled the ethnic make-up of the city.
Well, as a result a lot of bad cops made it through. We saw cops robbing and killing people. Now these cops are approaching their retirement and the next generation came up with nobody to teach them good police work.
So here we are. With a police force that is incompetent, lazy, and understaffed. The criminals know this. So they don’t fear them.
