Mendelssohn: Trio for Violin, Cello and Piano in D minor, Op. 49, fourth movement

It’s time to get serious again. We turn back to D minor for a finale in sonata format, marked “allegro assai appassionato”. If you‘ve been studying with Professor Publius, you’ll know what to listen for.

It’s rare to find a group of conservatory students play a piece as demanding as this with elan and that all-important sensitivity. This is a bravura performance.
