this is a great question
I think MSM absolutely knows better but they also know it riles up conservatives who believe in laws
and then media can try to make us look like the bad guys.
There is No one to call them on it
and even elected GOP Pols are careful in how they phrase things for fear( and rightly so ) of being attacked by the media.
perception becomes reality to the low information voters
