Great concert last night.

The pre-concert recital had the Ehnes String Quartet playing Beethoven's Quartet in C minor, Op. 18/4. It was a wonderful performance, and they got all the little gags in the finale to sound funny.

They also performed the Beethoven Quartet in F, Op. 59/1, and that was a joy. This quartet is going to be a star. They handled the finale at a brisk pace with no dawdling. Bob deMaine on his Villaume cello was a standout because there are some great cello lines in that quartet.

The Mendelssohn trio was amazing. At the end I expected the instruments to be on fire. I was sure they were at least smoking.
