The Border Crisis (NYT Editorial -- Major Gag Alert)
NY Times ^ | July 12, 2014 | NYT Editorial Board

Posted on 07/13/2014 8:32:06 AM PDT by Innovative

There is a reasonable way to confront the influx of Central American children at the southern border, and the White House is getting it mostly right.

But instead of supporting the package, Republicans are throwing up roadblocks. And through dangerous overreaction, some are urging actions that would make the situation worse.

Lawmakers who would cut legal corners to send more children back to such peril are showing appalling blindness to a humanitarian tragedy.

But blindness to the unintended consequences is a hallmark of immigration politics. Decades of militarizing the border — without visa reforms to improve the legal immigrant flow — have sealed people out.

The besieged border is a myth, and the arrival of a few thousand weary refugee children on buses does not make the myth true.

I can hardly wait for the day when this rag folds up and dies. You know that day isn’t too far away.

It is wrong. There is a crisis, and we have not ‘militarized’ the border. Tens of millions of gotten through the sieve. What the flock are they talking about?

This is about demographic politics and a new political bludgeon to swing at Republicans. Why isn’t the UN there? We send aid to these countries - where is that money going? Do they have police? Millions of rapes? No reports on this yet?

Dubious.

Decades of militarizing the border

Was this written in an alternate timeline?

Decades of militarizing the border — without visa reforms to improve the legal immigrant flow — have sealed people out.

1 million legal immigrants a year, most of them from the wrong countries, are still not enough for the Slimes.

This is a good one : “The besieged border is a myth”.

Yeah, right. A myth, says the Manhattanite who knows the Eastern Seaboard and that’s about it.

These silly affluent people who shuttle from Manhattan to the Hamptons can believe such nonsense.

Yeah. I mean this is big news. It should be on the front page. Or maybe they should change their motto: All the BEST we think our readers will believe.

Personally I think they should all be sent to NYC. Replacing all the murdered unborn (and born) in the abortion capital.

” refugee children “

New spin. Caught it a few months ago on NPR calling the children refugees of war in Central America.

So that’s two leftist news sources calling them refugees instead of even undocumented immigrants.

This is code for, "we have to give all the OTMs a "Notice to Appear" so they can disappear into the U.S."
