Mario UnGotz? Are you sure that’s a German name?

That's well said. Messi had a defense that most strikers can only dream of and failed to take advantage.

Actually, it was funny when they showed up on the first or second or twentieth thread. Now, its just plain old DEE-ranged. And a litte embarrassing quite frankly.

LOL—reminding me of the guy (or gal) a week or so ago that told me soccer is “globalist.” I reminded him (or her) that these are national teams playing, and that by necessity they must represent other countries.

The big Euro teams love playing their pre-season exhibition games here in the States.

Community Shield August 10th, Arsenal vs Manchester City.

That’s the thing about soccer, it is literally year-round, one competition or another.

The Third-World Cup is over! Thank God! Onto the next country that doesn’t deserve to host a World Cup (Russia) and then the country that bribed its way into hosting (Qatar).

I can’t take a “sport” that would host their premier event in South Africa, Brazil, Russia and Qatar seriously.

Or the US.

Let me guess: if the U.S. hosts the World Cup again, you reserve the right to complain that the sport is being "shoved down your throat?" And I'll note that you left Germany off of your list, for some reason.

Bastian Schweinsteiger (pronounced [ˈbasti̯an ˈʃvaɪ̯nʃtaɪ̯ɡɐ] ( listen)) (born 1 August 1984) is a German footballer who plays as a midfielder for Bundesliga club Bayern Munich and the German national team. A right-footed player, he usually plays as central midfielder. Earlier in his career he primarily played as a wide midfielder. Schweinsteiger has won many awards in his club and in his international career, including seven Bundesliga titles, seven German Cups, a UEFA Champions League title, and two League Cups[3]. In 2014 Schweinsteiger won a World Cup title as well. As of October 2013, he is the Bayern Munich vice-captain to long-time teammate Philipp Lahm.[4] He has been voted as the best German player in 2013.[5] He is also known as the "midfield mastermind".[5]

Your argument isn't particularly "ligical."

There is a lot more contact in soccer than there is in baseball or basketball.

Football and hockey have more contact, but they also have elaborate exoskeletons built around the players.

Soccer has probably has the highest ratio of contact to protective gear of any major sport (unless you consider rugby a major sport, which is a separate conversation).

But that isn't the most glaring flaw in your analysis. It's this:

Why is a game more "manly" if it is easier to score goals rather than more difficult?

I know these are political decisions with bribery involved, but the winner should get to host the next one.

The US deserves to hold the Third-World Cup over Qatar. But they lost the bid. Why? Because FIFA is a corrupt organization.

The third-worlders were bribed by the Qataris with money and seats from the wasteful venues they are going to build and tear down for a host nation that is the size of Connecticut.

I have no use for a one-world cup for a sport that resolves even championship games with a shootout, in case of a tie.

What do the Las Vegas oddsmakers say about the lives of the Argentinian and Brazilian coaches or maybe even players? ;-)
