The governor and both houses of the state legislature are Republican. A pretty strong Republican candidate is opposing the brain-dead Kay Hagan for Senator this year. Richard Burr is a squish, but he’s an R on the counts for committee posts, at least.
There are some old-time white Democrats still kicking in NC, enjoying the graft opportunities, but their voting base is mainly black. I don’t see Central Americans having a large impact any time soon.
