Cops have always been “brutal”. The difference is that now more people are questioning them. Back in the day, in my small town, you mouthed off to the cops, you got your head busted. Had a lot less problems....
Cops here used to be very low paid. Minimum wage and all they could steal. As a respected local businessman and friend of the family(now deceased) said to me, “cops are garbage men who were under qualified.”
No knock raids and the militarization of the Police are the cause of much of the recent unpleasantness.
What really gets me is how some cops are not gun people at all.
As in, literally know nothing about firearms other than what they learned in class.
I just don’t get that.
On my job I know everything I can about the tools I use.
How do you have a gun as part of your job and it’s the only gun you have ever fired? And that’s only once a year to qualify with low recoil ammo. You have have been given authority by the state to walk around with a loaded weapon in public and you barely even know how to disassemble it for cleaning?
Boggles my mind.
