Seems that HAMAS wants to test the full capability of Iron Dome and its current supply limits with regard to the future. Israel has to stop the command and control of GAZAN missile launches and has to use troops for that purpose to discover HAMAS capabilities for certain. Israel cannot afford to quit, or run out of Iron Dome inventory.
One goal of Hamas might also be to get Israeli soldiers inside Gaza so they can kidnap one of them. Out of 48,000 Israeli soldiers called up, it shouldn’t be too hard for Hamas to capture just one of those 48,000. And with that, they hope to gain another trade with Israel (as they did before) in getting 1000 Islamic Terrorists released for that one soldier.
