Israel’s inner cabinet decided on expansion of military activities on Tuesday, after Egypt’s cease-fire efforts failed; news media were told a decision would only be made Friday morning.

The Israel Defense Forces ground operation in the Gaza Strip began after the inner cabinet met in secret on Thursday night in Tel Aviv. In a deceptive maneuver intended to give the impression that no significant expansion of the military operation would happen in the next 24 hours, Israeli officials told reporters the security cabinet would only be meeting on Friday morning.

A senior official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the cabinet ministers had already approved the ground operation when it met Tuesday night, after the Egyptian cease-fire initiative fell through. At the meeting, cabinet members were briefed in detail on the various stages of the operational plans. As the meeting concluded, the ministers authorized Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense minister Moshe Ya’alon to decide on both the nature of the ground operation and its timing.

General Tzu's head would explode if anyone suggested that war plans should be announced days or months ahead of time, I think.

Maybe if Supreme Commander Obama is fond of doing exactly that, it is now OK, no?

They kept Obama out of the loop with his band of Moslem Brotherhood cronies in the White House.

I don’t know how much out of the loop he would be. By that I mearn when you have about 60,000 troops at a border, when they weren’t there before, it doesn’t take a genius to figure out that an invasion is about to happen ... :-) ...

But as far as trusting Obama, when he says he’s got Israel’s back ... no, I wouldn’t do that.

No, occams razor applies here- which states the simplest answer is usually the right one. The simplest answer, being in this case “Obama is a moron” is the one I’m going with.
