byproducts like sulfuric acid, ammonia and carbon dioxide, which they can then sell.

CO2 sales!
And all the guys working on CCS (sequestration) never thought of it!

They must have some very fizzy drinks and consume mass quantities of dry ice!

In Texas and other places, we use CO2 injection into the formations to get more oil out of it.

Looks like they are doing the same.

In Saskatchewan as in Mississippi, the CO2 will be pumped underground into a partially depleted oil field and—after it has helped squeeze valuable oil to the surface—stored there indefinitely.

This project may be the biggest and worst con-job in the history of U.S. crony capitalism. Costs are already about double the initial estimate — and that’s before the plant even goes on-line.

Moreover, there’s a strong likelihood that the so-far-unproven technology simply may not work as advertised.

If the Mississippi Public Services Commission doesn’t come to its senses and disallow the inclusion of the obscenely high costs into Miss. Power’s rate-base, homeowners and businesses in the southeastern one-third of MS may end up paying almost double the amount per KWH that’s charged to ratepayers in the rest of the state.

Thanks, Gov. Barbour, thanks legislature, and thanks U. S. Department of Energy, for making this monstrosity a reality.

Liquid Air( Air Liquide for the foreigners out there), corp makes CO2 down here in Texas for industrial consumption. There have been trucks of it traveling around the highways for decades.
