Obama is simply using Crimea.....he’s miffed Putin checkmated him bigtime, and this in full view of the International Stage.
The he used political leverage on other countries to oppose Russia’s move. ..and still is doing so.
Crimea had been Russia for centuries.....Krushchev “gifted” it to Ukraine, the people had no choice whatsoever.
