How far left was I? So far left my beloved uncle was a card-carrying member of the Communist Party in a Communist country. When I returned to his Slovak village to buy him a mass card, the priest refused to sell me one. So far left that a self-identified terrorist proposed marriage to me. So far left I was a two-time Peace Corps volunteer and I have a degree from UC Berkeley. So far left that my Teamster mother used to tell anyone who would listen that she voted for Gus Hall, Communist Party chairman, for president. I wore a button saying "Eat the Rich." To me it wasn't a metaphor.
I voted Republican in the last presidential election.
Below are the top ten reasons I am no longer a leftist. This is not a rigorous comparison of theories. This list is idiosyncratic, impressionistic, and intuitive. It's an accounting of the milestones on my herky-jerky journey.
10) Huffiness.
In the late 1990s I was reading Anatomy of the Spirit, a then recent bestseller by Caroline Myss.
Myss described having lunch with a woman named Mary. A man approached Mary and asked her if she were free to do a favor for him on June 8th. No, Mary replied, I absolutely cannot do anything on June 8th because June 8th is my incest survivors' meeting and we never let each other down! They have suffered so much already! I would never betray incest survivors!
Myss was flabbergasted. Mary could have simply said "Yes" or "No."(continued)

Wow. A list of things hated by leftists that has gone on for years.
If the victims of communism could start a list, it would also go on for years. The problem is that more than one hundred million posters are missing because they were murdered by intolerant, hate-spewing leftists who loved

Eventually, I found it much better to let them shout while I would politely refute their arguments. Nothing disconcerts a screaming leftist more than an opponent who smiles at them and calmly rebuts their statements. I'd rather they think about the things I say rather than believe they've won an argument because they outshouted me.
Superb article. I have always found that those leaving a poison ideology (whether political or religious) can articulate the reasons why the ideology is poison better than anyone looking in from the outside, and this article only reinforces my experience.

The more I read from people like him the more I think you are right - funnily enough I think the left will start it! Despite their supposed hatred of guns there are armed groups of lefties spoiling for a fight - they consider themselves and even call themselves The Armed Resistance - they only hate conservatives having guns.

That is truly a fantastic article, one quite damning to the left.
What I have found to be a fundamental distinction between the right and the left is this:
When someone on the right sees our established society (one built upon the love, blood, sweat and tears of men and women of valor and honor) being threatened, we get angry and fight against it.
When someone on the left sees their idea of a socialist utopia (one that has been proven can never exist, at the consequence of millions of innocent lives being destroyed) being fought against, they get angry and fight against it.
One is preserving a righteous foundation the other is destroying it.

Leftists incite hatred of the rich, hatred of economic success, hatred of work, hatred of freedom and hatred of anything thing else that promotes the cause.
There is literally nothing else you need to know about the Left than they incite hatred.
I don’t know who she is or if she is famous, but wouldn’t it be nice if she could get this wonderful essay published as an op-ed in the NYT or Washington Post?
Instead they give their podium to the likes of Medea Benjamin and Sandra Fluke.
Along with everything else I like the way she nails Hillary and defends Sarah.
But neither this Goska guy nor Horowitz and their ilk will ever do anything so honest, because when all is said and done they're both leftists, which means that they're liars. They're people of the lie. The truth is not in them. They are the sons of the Father of All Lies. We're fools to let them into the movement.
Talk about the Town Whore preaching from the pulpit about chastity.
Friends, the reason we conservatives fail is because we listen to dyed-in-the-wool liars like the author of this article, Horowitz and other come-lately converts like all the Neocons. They're not converts. They're infiltrators.

These lefty sites have nothing on "The Blaze" Glen Beck site....that thing is so full of cookies, trackers, and who knows what else...I rarely go there...
