....On Monday, Transportation Security Administration fee hikes go into effect, and they will have the greatest impact on travelers who make nonstop flights or have long layovers between flights.
Critics say the agency should call the fees what they really are: a tax hike.
Anyway you look at it, this is an increase in taxes, said Charlie Leocha, chairman of the consumer group Travelers United.
The old fee had been $2.50 for a nonstop and $5 for a connecting flight. The maximum fee for a round trip was $10. The new security fee for all flights is $5.60. Any layover exceeding four hours counts as a separate flight.

Please. Stop insulting us. Just stop. None of this money is going to reduce the federal deficit. Its all PR BS. The money is going to go to some new TSA spending program or to pay TSA workers more or build them nicer offices. Not one penny will "reduce the deficit." Its such an insult to our intelligence. The only way to reduce the deficit is to CUT SPENDING. I doubt their budget is going to be reduced.
Solution...I just won’t fly.
Those who voted for the creep don’t have any money to worry about, nor do they “fly”. They don’t pay taxes anyway. Its those who MUST fly who will pay.

I’ve taken that for a while. We drove to the Field Target national match in Texas last year, and are doing same to Alabama this year and we’re in California. We’ve deferred some of the cost by carting some other competitors equipment with us.
And what are the other kinds of flights?
Short layovers.
Not only are Americans willing to be strip searched to fly, they are willing to pay for it! When is the civil war?
