Class warfare erupts with real guns(Movie review!)

The film begins in formulaic fashion, introducing us slowly to the ensemble cast that is about to flee for their lives for the rest of the movie, while also giving us the backstory on how a government group called “The New Founding Fathers” have instituted “the Purge,” while Internet preachers rail against it as a form of false, secular religion.

Then the sirens go off, the population huddles behind closed doors and “commencement” of the purge begins with ticking clock, an excellent suspense element.

Was going to say the same thing.

Why make it an annual event when everyday is the 'Purge' in Chicago.

Many big cities filled with liberal, Dem constituents are surrounded by suburbs filled with conservative, well-armed, Republican constituents. The people in the conservative suburbs, being highly more intelligent than most of the people in the big city, are certainly not going to be shooting or assaulting their conservative neighbors.

Even if they passed a law condoning killings for 24 hours, the conservatives would band together, put roadblocks on the streets, and simply repel/shoot any criminals trying to enter and assault people in the conservative enclave. That's why the premise for this flick is hogwash.

The mind of the typical leftist Hollyweird movie maker is probably filled with images of crazed, tobacco-chewing armed to the teeth conservatives wearing hunting hats and looking for excuses to shoot liberals and minorities. Remember the movie "Joe" with Peter Boyle. Except Boyle's character Joe didn't wear a hunting hat.

That the typical conservative is some quiet man or woman just trying to protect their rights and live their lives without excessive gov. interference is too much for the lib mind to grasp. That can't understand that the people most likely to assault them are the people (inner city minorities, druggies) they put on pedestals.

It’s interesting that the written plot for “V for Vendetta” was that a purported Anarchists took over the government and imposed a dictatorship.

As far as the hate directed against the wealthy goes, it got me to thinking how a different movie could take populism to the extreme, with vigilantes killing off not just corrupt wealthy people, but corrupt politicians as well.

And with a major league twist.

The very rich and the corrupt politicians are internationalists, disloyal to the United States, and wanting to undermine and destroy it. Sound familiar?

On one hand are the radical leftists, and their Cloward-Piven strategy of Marxism, socialism, elitist ruling class authoritarianism and one-world government.

And on the other side are the wealthy industrialists who want internationalism at the expense of the US to make themselves a hyper-wealthy elite nobility, ruling a one-world authoritarian government. RINOs every one of them.

With “the good guys” being ordinary, good citizens, who are patriotic, embrace the constitution and their religious faith. Really clinging to their God, their constitution, and their gun. America loving patriots.

Imagine the hilarity of both conservatives, libertarians, and real old school liberals all enjoying parts of the movie? Rooting for the real Americans to smite all the nasty, vicious, sneering, one-world villains individually and in groups.

The second part of this movie is how the “new American revolution” spreads to the rest of the world. With wealthy, corrupt, socialist elitists being smitten hither and yon. This could just be described in the movie, not depicted, like “The French have brought back the guillotine, and are reforming their government with it”.

Populism.

"ts laughabe that Hollywood’s next new idea for a futuristic, “the world has gone to Hell” apocalypse movie always involves the stale idea of Right Wing Christians taking over."

I read somewhere that Lenin commanded his minions to "accuse others of what you do." V for Vendetta and this latest celluloid crapfest would appear to be exactly that, wouldn't they?

If we are going to save this Republic, we conservatives are going to have to get over our disdain for all things pop culture, and start using that powerful weapon to reach and de-program the generations that will be running this nation (into the ground?) for the next 50 years. I abhor rap and "death metal", but I realize that's what most young kids today listen to (news flash...they ain't listening to Blake Shelton and Alan Jackson). Anyone who thinks today's young people are going to miraculously wake up and become conservative is a fool. We dumba** Xer parents taught our Generation.com kids that they were wonderful and special and everything they did was just absolutely fine, and now we have an entire generation of know-nothing useful idiots for the Left, who think the rest of the world and history is our of step with them, instead of vice versa. The only way we're going to reach them, and wake them up is to start building our own conservative/patriotic pop culture. How do we do that? Glad you asked:

Pop culture rears its ugly head — yet again — and conservatives yawn — yet again

Yes, I'm pimping my own blog.

Populism is a good thing, as long as its conservative/Judeo-Christian/small-l libertarian/patriotic populism. Our system was designed for it. "We The People" screams populism. I don't know why so many so-called conservatives think it's such a bad idea for We The People to govern ourselves.

In the Soviet/Maoist/Castro-Guevara form, populism leads to wholesale slaughter and tyranny. In the form of the American War of Independence, it leads to "a Republic, if you can keep it".

I like your movie plot. It's kind of Robin Hood meets Unintended Consequences, but snatched right out of today's headlines -- or in the case of the NY Times and WaPo, page C-25.

It's an excellent quote, but it can be lost in the prose.
