Perry sending National Guard troops to border [WH waiting for "formal communication")
Houston Chronicle ^ | CHRISTOPHER SHERMAN and WILL WEISSERT

".......As governor, Perry is commander in chief of Texas military forces unless those forces have already been mobilized by the White House. But if Perry deploys National Guard troops it is up to Texas to pay for them, while an order from Obama would mean Washington picks up the tab.

"Gov. Perry has referred repeatedly to his desire to make a symbolic statement to the people of Central America that the border is closed," said White House spokesman Josh Earnest. "And he thinks that the best way to do that is to send 1,000 National Guard troops to the border. It seems to me that a much more powerful symbol would be the bipartisan passage of legislation that would actually make a historic investment in border security and send an additional 20,000 personnel to the border."

Earnest also said the White House hasn't received the kind of "formal communication" with Perry's office that usually accompanies such deployments..........."

The interior governors should call up the National Guard, too. On radio this AM, there was something about a law passed a few years ago that allows states and localities to enforce immigration law.

I'd love to see a real crisis over this. It'll be immensely popular to keep these Spanish-speaking low education Central Americans out of public schools. Real guts would be taking the federal taxes on state worker incomes and keeping them to pay for immigration enforcement.

There has to be forceful action. Rick Perry took what's a first step in that direction.

The illegals were terrified of U.S.B.P. back then because they knew you didn’t go up against them.

Now...they know they can pull a stunt like using suppressive fire with a .50 cal....and no one shoots back.

“Cartels suspected as high-caliber gunfire sends Border Patrol scrambling on Rio Grande”

“EXCLUSIVE: RINCON PENINSULA, Texas — U.S. Border Patrol agents on the American side of the Rio Grande were forced to take cover Friday night when high-caliber weaponry was fired at them from the Mexican side of the river, sources told FoxNews.com.

The weapons were fired at the U.S. side of the riverbank in the area of the Rincon Peninsula across the Rio Grande from Reynosa, Mexico, at about 8:30 p.m., sources said. Bullets ricocheted into an area where Border Patrol agents were positioned, Rep. Louie Gohmert, R-Texas, told FoxNews.com.

Border Patrol sources confirmed Gohmert’s account, and said the shots may have been fired by .50-caliber weapons. ....................................”

Woe is me! Woe! Woe is me!

I wanted Governor Perry to wear a red tie today, but he didn’t do exactly what I wanted.

Woe is me! Woe! Woe is me!

I wanted Governor Perry to have a tuna salad sandwich for lunch, but he didn’t do exactly what I wanted.

Woe is me! Woe! Woe is me!

The guy could turn into Superman and toss the illegals a mile, and there would still be people on Free Republic complaining that it wasn’t two miles because that’s the distance they want.

obozo and holder’s panties are going to really be in a bunch over this. They are waiting for official word from Gov Perry. If Gov. Perry does call and is truthful, Obozo will respond to Gov. Perry by asking; you want me to do what to myself??

It looks as if the taxpayers of Texas will be stuck with the bill since the Texas guard belongs to Texas unless it is called to federal service.

Another Obama bill that others will have to pay.

I hope Perry sues Obama for failing to protect and to defend Texas from foreign invaders.

erhaps Perry and the bright minds of Texas have figured out a way around that pen —

Texas is slightly different than other states in the Union. Texas was an independent republic in it's own right when it won independence from Mexico.

When they joined the United States they kept their National Guard more independent than the rest of the States and it's not so easy for the President to demobilize the Texas NG by simply federalizing them.

Interestingly enough, Arizona and California National Guards were mobilized for action and were faced off against each other at the Colorado River over a water dispute.

The President at the time put a stop to that by nationalizing the Az and Ca NG units. The conflict lives on in the form of the agricultural checkpoints at the California -Arizona border.

Watch the video in Post 18. Texas taxpayers have already ponied up a 1/2 BILLION dollars - and that's just the monetary cost. People who don't live in a border state have a hard time comprehending this situation.

At least he is doing something...unlike that flipping idiot son of a bitch in the White outHouse.

Dingy Harry and the Mohammedan Usurper ARE doing something.

They're encouraging the criminal alien invaders to swarm across the border. It's all according to plan ... those bastards want to DESTROY these United States.

This
‘When they joined the United States they kept their National Guard more independent than the rest of the States and it’s not so easy for the President to demobilize the Texas NG by simply federalizing them.”
is interesting
can you provide a source for that?

I am glad he did it but it will still cost us money and that POS Bo still won’t so squat

Maybe Perry should call for volunteers and fortify the border with many thousands.

Maybe other states should send volunteers to help.

His Imperial Majesty, Barackula, can federalize the National Guard with the stroke of a pen ...

Every move comes with a political price tag, however.
