I get tired of calls to “destroy” or “crush” an enemy without some explanation of how this can be done.
Israel has the capacity to kill every single inhabitant of Gaza. For a host of reasons, some good, others not so much, they cannot use their power to do so.
Which means crushing Hamas can only be done by separating it from the other inhabitants. Which cannot be done as long as the people of Gaza are willing to provide a sea in which Hamas can swim. There is, of course, zero evidence of any rejection by Gazans of Hamas similar to the Sunni Uprising that rejected and expelled al Quaeda in Iraq a few years back.
