In the New York Times story, it appears that Walsh is wearing the Combat Infantryman’s Badge (CIB). Yet, it appears that he is listed as an Ordinance Branch Officer on the plaque in the photo in the story. I thought you had to be an Infantryman to wear the CIB?
I’m not sure of his officer branch...but it looks like he commanded a NG infantry battalion in Iraq. So maybe he had a temporary branch transfer?
