Maybe she should have left a note.

The woman who left porcelain dolls on the porches of several young girls' homes in a California neighborhood was only trying to give away toys her own family had outgrown, the Orange County Sheriff’s Department said today.

I used to know a woman who collected dolls as a hobby.

The families who received these dolls should be celebrating, not hiding in the basement.

These are not your cheap, every day, average kiddy dolls.

Especially the porcelain ones.

Look at the pictures. They are in excellent shape and are top quality.

I think this doll is a whole lot more creepy.

And yeah, as far as I know, that was a real toy commercial.

Baby Laughalot. Yeah, that is creepy.
It replaces the Shake & Bake commercial from the ‘60s in my pantheon of outstanding creepy commercials.
Mother is tonging-over piece-after-piece of delicious, tender, juicy Southern-fried chicken, presumably cooked using Shake-and-Bake crumbs and the plastic bag.
Dad is really tucking in, and Mother beams as their 8 year daughter fills the TV screen with her joyful face, happily stating to the folks at home, “And I hayulped!”

Well, if these aren't creepy enough for you, try The Island of the Dolls.

I saw A. Bourdain; tour of the spot, while on the Food Network. It was rather creepy.

All of this; could have been avoided, If she placed a hand-
written note on each doll w/ an explanation (and phone #).
Then those whom "*itched about it" would have silenced
as ungrateful. The dolls, were (seemly) of fine quality.

A lady from a bygone era who didn’t know any better.

At least she didn’t leave a Talky Tina doll behind. Another great episode of The Twilight Zone.

Under cinder blocks?

Cinder blocks are featherweight to them. Go down to your basement at night with the lights off... the faint giggling will make your hair stand up. Melt them in the fire pit.. You’ll be glad you did.

People freaking out over dolls left on the doorstep - more wussification of American parents.

I recall Boo Radley in To Kill a Mockingbird did something similar and he was one of the heroes of the book.

Sad when society looks down on a good deed by a person.

Nothing creepy about it and I am sad for the woman who thought she was doing something good by giving dolls to young girls who could enjoy them.

So shines a good deed in a weary world.

Media distraction #42. Anything to avoid reporting on the government spying on people, eavesdropping on conversations, IRS extortion attempts...

A lady from a bygone era who didn’t know any better.

You're probably right...well meaning but misguided in today's world.

This only seemed creepy because of the Chucky and Bride of Chucky movies.

The only “creepy” thing about this story is the news media. If these were Chucky dolls with blood on them, then you report a creepy story. But finding a doll like this would cause a normal person to assume it as a lovely gift to a child. The emphasis here is in “normal”...something the news media is not these days.

One of the stories (at least) said the dolls resembled the girls in the home. Now if that was the case, yes, that’s creepy. If it’s a completely different hair color and hairdo than that’s different.

Why is that creepy? I’m sure this woman sees the girls all the time and thought.....a red headed doll for the redhead, brown for the brunette, etc.
When my daughter was small I bought her a cabbage patch that had her color hair and her name. She still has it. Lol
