GOP-e are less concerned with keeping congressional seats out of Democrat hands than they are with keeping them out of conservative hands.
I challenge anybody to show me an example otherwise.

Tillis is not a great choice, there were better in the primaries.
But, he's still a damn sight better than Hagan.
