Police Overkill (Florida woman arrested after buying allergy medicine)

TALLAHASSEE (CN) - Florida sheriff's officers falsely arrested and imprisoned a woman with allergies for buying two boxes of Sudafed at a drug store, she claims in Federal Court.

Mickey Lynn Goodson claims she bought the two boxes of the over-the-counter drug because the pharmacist recommended it. She sued Gadsden County Sheriff Morris Young and the two officers who arrested her, Rodney Moore and William Buckhalt.

Charges of possession of a controlled substance were eventually dropped, Goodson says in the July 18 complaint.

In July 2010, Goodson says, she went to a Winn-Dixie store to get Sudafed "because she has allergy flare-ups." Sudafed contains pseudoephedrine, which can be used as a precursor chemical in some recipes for methamphetamines.

"The pharmacist on duty suggested that plaintiff buy two boxes of Sudafed and she did," the complaint states.

"Almost immediately," defendant Officer Moore drove up in an unmarked police car, Goodson says. Moore blocked her and her husband's car, prevented them from leaving, and asked if she had just bought Sudafed... (snip)

Defendant Buckhalt arrived, with other deputies, and searched the Goodsons' car. They were taken to a sheriff's station, where Buckhalt asked if he could search their home. The Goodson said no, "unless there was a search warrant...

Plaintiff was arrested on her front porch after Buckhalt obtained a search warrant on false and misleading statements and evidence," the complaint states. "Later, when an Order Granting Motion to Suppress was entered suppressing all evidence received pursuant to the search warrant, the Judge stated that 'had the magistrate been aware of the omission [of critical evidence and facts in the documents signed by Buckhalt to obtain the search warrant] he would not have found sufficient probable cause for issuance of a warrant." (Brackets in complaint.)     All charges against her were dropped...

It is the judge’s duty to require the cop to justify the warrant. What is the point of the 4th Amendment, if judges just issue upon request? I’ve lost more respect for judges these last few years than I have for cops. Totally irresponsible children, all of them.

As for any investigation. If charges were dropped, then the cops were over reacting to minimal information. Meth labs don’t flush down toilets.
Most likely, she was just replacing misplaced medicine, getting some because she had none on her and needed it, or multiple people in her family needed medication for allergies. If she was cooking meth, they’d have gotten her.

The guy that used to post these articles about police misconduct got reported over and over (I do believe) by the bootlickers. I guess that’s why he was banned, I don’t actually know for sure. But we miss him! But we have Null and Void with the Jack Booted Thug ping list and he’s successful.

and Chet99, Miss him too. He was the one reporting on vicious dogs. Wonder what he thinks about cops shooting dogs so often???

Oh yeah, like Republicans are doing anything for or about freedom. They are almost as bad as the Democrats, if that’s possible. (there’s no one as twisted as a Dem)

European techniques?! Are you saying that WHITE PEOPLE invented something?

You must be wrong, because Obama says that muslims have contributed so much, not white people. And if you ask almost any black, they will tell you that it’s blacks that are kings and queens and that Africa is the bomb.

Won’t hurt the police. The taxpayers will pay and the police will go on their merry way.

If y’all are really pi$$ed off about this and want to do something about it TODAY—then go out today and buy 5 boxes of Sudafed.

Image what the gestapo would do if Sudafed sales went up by several tens of thousands of boxes on one day.

I don’t take pseudoephedrin products because of the cardiovascular risks. It causes heart palpitations and an increased risk of stroke.

The idea is not to buy them to use them... Or to buy them and use them. Whatever.

In a free society, we should be able to buy a legal product and use it—or not—the way we see fit, as long as that use is legal.

If you buy Sudafed and then throw it away, that should be your business and no one else’s; especially the government.

The buying of multiple boxes of Sudafed then becomes a citizen protest against over-reaching government.

I completely agree. But I’m not going to waste my money purchasing a product that I won’t use, even if I support others right to use that product.

And of course the cops were charged with and arrested for perjury right?
