IT WASN'T PRETTY, BUT IT WORKED: HOW THE RIGHT WON THE SUMMER IMMIGRATION SKIRMISH
Breitbart Big Government ^ | August 1,2014 | CAROLINE MAY & MATTHEW BOYLE

Bachmann was similarly pleased with the the GOP’s new unity on the full immigration package. "I was a 'hell no,' and now I can be for this bill today," Bachmann told reporters.

“We completely gutted the bill, we changed the bill. It is nothing like it was yesterday,” Bachmann explained, saying the bill is "far better today than it was yesterday.” She further credited the American people’s willingness to call their representatives for the turnaround.

“The voice of the commo-sense, reasonable American who just wants to have our border secure, who don't want to have all these inducements to bringing illegal foreign nationals into the country with great consequences for the people who live here — their voices were heard,” Bachmann said. “It's because they melted the phone lines in the last few days that everyone got together and we got a much better bill. One that I can easily get behind.

"But the new united GOP front against the Democrats’ immigration stance caused worry and chaos in the ranks on the left.

“A unified bold conservative alternative to the open borders radicals is the biggest threat to the Democrat Party,” conservative activist Daniel Horowitz, who fought aggressively on this matter, told Breitbart News. “Their extremism was on display for all of middle America to see today. The message emanating from the entire Democrat Party is that we don’t deserve to have borders or sovereignty. These used to be bedrock bipartisan values, but the Democrats have been taken over by extremists. This image will hurt them with the broad electorate in November.” The Democrats went haywire in support of amnesty throughout the day Friday after the House GOP unified around the new conservative strategy.

The House did it’s job — the vote proved that.

Now they just have to defend it and it is defendable in its entirety.

And if Obama says it’s not enough then tell him the House can add a few thousand more dollars to it if he wishes.

LOL! Hysterical - you are so right. I’ve only started to read the comments, but I’m sure the outrage of the extreme purists will be intense.

This is Chess not Checkers.

A great many Democrat politicians have played both sides of this issue for a very long time. They tell their construction Union base that they oppose open borders and that they oppose amnesty. Then those same Dems kiss up to La Raza and their own leadership.

Yes it will be painful, but this summer has put the US Chamber of Commerce in its place on immigration, and it has freed the GOP to set the agenda.

Only about one-quarter (24%) of Hispanic adults say they most often identify themselves by “Hispanic” or “Latino,” according to a new nationwide survey of Hispanic adults by the Pew Hispanic Center, a project of the Pew Research Center. About half (51%) say they identify themselves most often by their family’s country or place of origin—using such terms as Mexican, Cuban, Puerto Rican, Salvadoran or Dominican. And 21% say they use the term “American” most often to describe themselves. The share rises to 40% among those who were born in the U.S.

This bill does seem to be a victory. The pres is still saying that the HOR is the problem. How can he be serious? The HOR passed a bill before going on vacation. The US Senate did not. The President isn't sticking around to do his work. The RINOs in the HOR got on board (probably to go on their vacations)

It's a victory for conservatives. Who knows what the Pres and the US Senate backstabbers will do? But if the HOR keeps this up, they can do the constitutional thing and not fund things that didn't originate with them.

The hoards Obama has allowed to flood our border may produce a backlash in one of the Democrats most loyal base, African Americans. They see these illegals as taking away their jobs, welfare benefits and eventually their political power.

Interesting thought.

Of course right now the entitlements flow without restriction, so the gravy is abundant for all. Incoming hispanic family A doesn’t really reduce the payout for existing black family B. But eventually that fake money will be discovered for the fraud it is.

Politically I’m not sure, both blacks and hispanics are solid Democrat supporters.

About the only difference between legal and illegal, is that the legals get to vote for more immigration through the democrat party, quicker.

“Most legal immigrants want all the illegals deported..”

Not from any poll that I was able to find. They are about 65/35 against deporting Illegals. I suspect that much of it is due to having illegal family (and extended family) members. They also do support Amnesty, but don’t consider it a big deal as long as people aren’t being rounded up.

What they are against, for sure, is OPEN BORDERS. They know better than most of us just what is down there in Mexico and especially Central America. That is THE OPENING for Republicans and also why Republicans that concentrate on securing the border (and don’t talk about Amnesty, either way) DO FINE with Hispanics. But their consultants (most of them gay, by the way), keep telling them that they MUST support Amnesty, in order to get their support.

So a strategy that just MIGHT WORK for Republicans with regard to Hispanics is to go ALL-OUT for securing the border (i.e., a SERIOUS fence), and to start taking away the goodies that Illegals get, starting with welfare, and then looking the other way when they get jobs, education, health care, driver licenses, etc.

But I doubt they will do that, as their consultants (most of them gay, by the way), will advise them otherwise.

” the HOR”

Just call it the House (capitalized) - no one else uses that acronym, at least in anything that I’ve ever read.

Tricky, but possible. The idea is to (legally) suppress their voting. And this can be done by just what you say. If that’s the case, blacks would simply say both parties are against us (from a welfare state perspective) and not bother voting. I don’t think the Republicans stand a prayer of ever getting significant numbers of black votes regardless of what they do...at least in the short term.

As racist and bigoted as I try to be, once people start talking in my language and accent, I kind of lose track.
