So if the doctor was doing all the right things to protect himself how did he get it?

Gitmo doesn’t seem like such a bad idea - however if it’s transmitted regardless of hazmat gear then even being in Gitmo wouldn’t ensure safety - unless everyone who went there never left.

Check out the story linked in this thread. It’s by Preston who is mentioned in this wapo piece. If what he writes is accurate I think bringing this man to the US was a grave error.

It would have been far safer just to send all the experimental equipment and volunteer personal required to Africa.

There was no reason to intentionally bring the diseases to his hemisphere.
