The articles I have read stated that there was a total of three vials brought overseas, but they had to thaw naturally. Dr. Brantly was to be given the first vial (after it thawed), but he offered it to the other victim. But once he took a turn for the worse, it was given to him instead. the other patient was given the second vial (and then the third), after they were fully thawed.
I question the accuracy of the of the original article, I have not read anywhere else regarding this: ... Brantly received a transfusion of the blood of a 14-year-old Ebola survivor who he personally helped to treat. Giving blood transfusions from survivors to still suffering Ebola patients is an established, though not nearly proven, treatment for the largely untreatable disease.
Has anyone else seen this reported anywhere other than this article?
The 14 year old boy is in numerous stories, and his donation is also mentioned with the experimental drug, the Dr. received both.
Interesting, thanks.
