Actually, my best friend who died from cancer in ‘06 was with
UDT 11 and was the same age as Ventura. He did some missions
in Nam but did not do a complete tour. My friend was also the
lead diver for the Apollo 17 space capsule recovery team.

Jesse wanted his name back. Well, if his name was “Lying Greedy Fokker”, he definitely got it back.

IMHO, he can have it!

I don’t know all the details, either, but the trial jury examined all of it and rendered its verdict accordingly. This widow and child are making millions from the decedent’s book and movie rights, so the court award will only dent their financial future. The jury found that the decedent’s book libeled the plaintiff, so a portion of the proceeds will compensate the plaintiff for the decedent’s intentional act.

I knew Jesse was not there, just acknowledging that there were some really great UDT guys that were there.

One of the UDT guys in my class (Commercial dive) was also on the capsule recovery team as well as in Viet Nam. He was rated as a machinists mate. I sure learned a lot from those guys.

Kyle’s wishes were that all of the profits from the book went to the families of our fallen heroes. I believe Kaya is honoring his wishes. They are far from wealthy and Ventura is persona non grata in my book.

He was a freak as a governor and he’s gone downhill from there. I’m a Minnesotan. I lived it.

Jesse Ventura is not an honorable man, but I’ll leave that up to God.

Interesting. My buddy went the hard hat diving route after the
Navy. I think he took courses in Oakland but not sure. Went to
visit him in ‘76 when he lived in New Orleans and had been
diving in the North Sea on oil rigs. I kind of suspected that the
diving contributed to his melanoma. We had loads of fun hunting,
fishing, footballing, and girl chasing in HS.

To my understanding, supposedly the publishers had communications with each other and Kyle that attested to the fact they thought the incident would help it sell. Kyle only agreed to include the incident if he called wackadoo Ventura by ‘scruff face.’ Later in media interviews Kyle admitted ‘scruff face’ was the mouthbreather Ventura.

I have no idea why he would only refer to Ventura by ‘scruff face’ if it was true and could be proved. I have no idea why he would then admit ‘scruff face’ was Ventura if it wasn’t true.

Jessie Ventura - an example of what you get when a really stupid, immoral narcissist achieves transient notoriety. Sit on it, Jessie.

“How could you people in Minnesota ever elect him as Gov.? Like I should talk living in Calif.”

He won because Minnesota doesn’t have a 50%+1 rule, no runoff. He only had about 34 or 35% of the vote

If Ventura’s alive in a year,I’ll be surprised.

If ventura has half the brain cells functioning he has now in a year I'll be amazed.

Thanks for the sober post

OK, this is the Wash Compost, but it confirms what I’d read before. And the feeling I got watching Kyle when he was promoting his book:

Winning this despicible lawsuit will be Ventura’s only lasting legacy. Smooth move, A-hole.

Jesse is a liar. He's represented himself as some sort of snake eater from Viet Nam when he never spent a day there. He was not a Navy Seal in any way, shape or form, despite his repeated claims.
He is a certified narcissist thug. It's hard to believe the Strib would publish this “former Seal” claim when it was a Strib reporter who unmasked him.

Truth of the incident aside.
I doubt that sales of the book were impacted very much with the Ventura incident, so I doubt the widow "profited" much by it at all.
Ventura's reputation has been irreparably harmed far more by his lawsuit and perceived attack on Kyle's widow.
Ventura did, however, profit handsomely from his lawsuit.

Chris Kyle lost the case when he told Bill O'Reilly that the "Scruff Face" reference was to Jesse Ventura. That undid all the careful tap dancing that Kyle's publisher arranged to avoid a possible libel lawsuit in the first place.

It appears that Kyle had just as big a mouth as Ventura, and that Kyle told a lot of tall tales that weren't true (e.g. shooting 30 armed civilians from the roof of the New Orleans Superdome after Katrina, and killing two would be robbers at a Dallas gas station). Veterans deserve respect for their past honorable service, but that service does not merit them (us) a free pass for the rest of their lives.

Why would he show his face at a SEAL event?

He never was a SEAL. (Just ask any real SEAL.)

He was UDT - closely related but significantly different. (No disrespect to UDT guys, and those that are UDT and SEAL.)

I am just pretty sure Jesse V never wore the SEAL trident (budweiser), as he claims.
