Former Redskins Star and Tea Party Candidate Clint Didier Advances in Washington Primary

Former Washington Redskins tight end and Tea Party-backed candidate, Clint Didier, seeking to replace the retiring Congressman Doc Hastings in Washington State’s 4th congressional district, advanced against a crowded field of Republican hopefuls in Tuesday’s GOP primary. Didier, who won two Super Bowl rings playing in Super Bowl’s XVII and XXII under coach Joe Gibbs, is a farmer residing in Eltopia, WA.

Because of Washington State’s somewhat unusual “top-two” primary system, which advances the leading two vote-getters regardless of party status, Dan Newhouse, a GOP establishment-backed candidate and top money fundraiser in the race thus far, will also advance to the general election in November with no Democrat in the race.

With the last results updated by the Washington Secretary of State at 9:22 PM Pacific time on Tuesday evening, Didier led Newhouse, 30.44% to 26.64%.

In February of this year, Didier delivered a passionate National Tea Party Address, and listed ten “scripted plays” he would like to see completed, which read like a Tea Party manifesto:

1) Restore the Rule of Law, by recognizing and adhering to our Constitution, which is the Supreme Law of the Land–this nation’s fundamental law, which gives America its sovereignty. 2) Recognize and adhere to the Bill of Rights, especially the Second Amendment, which guarantees the other nine. 3) Repeal Obamacare. Unshackle our industries from this crippling regulatory action, and get America back to work. 4) Abolish the Federal Reserve 5) Get our currency back on the gold standard. 6) Stop all foreign aid. 7) Stop all unconstitutional wars. 8) Secure our borders. 9) Review all agencies that were created by executive order, and if found unconstitutional, defund them. 10) Get the United Nations out of the United States, and the United States out of the United Nations.

While Washington State is viewed as a liberal state because of the far-left dominance of highly populated King County, which encompasses Seattle, the eastern portion is much more conservative.

Newhouse is a former state agriculture director who served under then Democrat Governor Chris Gregoire and received support from agribusiness giant Monsanto.

It is the first time in Washington State’s history, according to the Associated Press, that two candidates in a U.S. House race of the same party have advanced to the general election.

So did the long snapper. He wasn’t a “star” either.

lol

He did get a little action since over the career he accumulated 1,923 yards receiving and 21 touchdowns.

It’d be more awesome if it was just 2 seasons, lol.

He was not a “star” but he was a player who did what he was told, right?

Democrats know how to destroy the multi-party system

I recall he was a tight end who caught several short passes per game.

" with no Democrat in the race. "

Wait for the hue and cry over that one, second only to if the so-called "national popular vote" yielded up a pubbie contrary to where the EV's fall.

“So did the long snapper. He wasn’t a “star” either”.

Didier won two Super Bowl rings as a member of the Redskins, in Super Bowl XVII and Super Bowl XXII. He was also the Redskins’ second leading receiver in Super Bowl XVIII, catching five passes for 65 yards in their 38-9 loss. He scored a touchdown in Super Bowl XXII.

The majority of players never play in 3 Super Bowls in 7 years, winning 2 rings.

Didier was a solid tight in Joe Gibbs offense scheme and will be a reliable, solid conservative in Congress.

Whoopee.

SBs XVII and XXII were both during strike seasons and a joke.

If Didier was a star TE based on SB wins and career stats, so was Dwayne Carswell.

The democrats don’t need to be paid to do anything Vet, they will naturally oppose the more conservative Republican and it’s all perfectly and unambiguously legal, so Didier has his work cut out for him.

That’s why this “TOP 2” primary stuff is garbage, it’s nice to have a zero% chance of a democrat winning this seat but it’s the most Republican seat in Washington State, there was already no chance the rats would win.

There is another R/R race in Cali, Tom McClintock versus an AH-nold RINO. McClintock won a MAJORITY in the primary so I’m hopeful he’ll still win even with all the democrat vote going to the RINO.

Ehhh, Redskins fans don’t have to hate Cowboys fans.

You still have Tony Romo. What could we possibly do to you that could be worse than that?

I read the article. I have no issue with his politics, though a few of his list of ten are naively wishful. If the desire of the author was to concentrate on the substance, he could have dropped the first 3 words of the headline.

As for the troll business, grow the f**k up. I offered a rejoinder to your straight from Wiki stats with a legitimate comparison and you got butt hurt about it.

Well, you chose to respond, didn’t like the rebuttal, then went to the cowardly refuge of changing the subject. Whatever.
