(CNN) -- The U.S. air strikes carried out Friday against ISIS are likely to have one unintended consequence: immediately increase the terrorist threat in Europe and the United States, Western counter-terrorism officials tell CNN.
Within hours of U.S. military jets and drones conducting a strike on ISIS artillery that had been used against Kurdish forces defending Irbil, ISIS supporters called for retaliatory attacks against the United States.
"It is a clear message that the war is against Islam and the mujahideen. The mujahideen must strive and seek to execute proactive operations in their own home, America, to discipline America and its criminal soldiers," Abu al-Ayna al-Khorasani, an administrator of Shumukh al-Islam, the top-tier forum for ISIS propaganda, wrote on his account Friday, according to a translation by the SITE Intelligence group.
Other ISIS supporters railed against the United States using the Twitter handle #AmessagefromISIStoUS, posting images of the wreckage of the twin towers. "Don't forget 11 Sept .. Maybe US citizens want more like that," one extremist tweeted. In June after ISIS captured Mosul, its supporters had warned against strikes in a Twitter campaign #CalamityWillBefallUS.
Here are three ways ISIS and its supporters could retaliate for U.S. military action against its fighters:

He weighted the political fallout of a terrorist attack on american soil and the blow back of a genocide he could have prevented...

They were using their phone to post on facebook. I’ve seen videos on youtube of people strolling into others, poles and actually being killed while thumbing their phone. They leave this mortal plane and end up in the phone universe.

Interesting point. I am also noticing that ISIS being on the march and taking over Iraq and Syria with 5,000 fighters seems odd. That’s the amount of people watching batting practice before a Mets game. That’s th number of people in my office building at 9:00am. They would have a tough time taking Dallas, never mind cities in Iraq and Syria, and holding them no less.
In 100 hours, we decimated at the time the 5th largest army in the world. Drove them hundreds of miles back to Baghdad and destroyed thousands of artillery pieces.
I am thinking a captain right out of military college can plan and execute the destruction of ISIS and be back home in time for a JD and Coke.

The problem is not “ISIS” whatever they are, the problem is TSA, ICE, and many other government agencies that aid and abet the free passage of terrorists from anywhere to come to the US and pursue attacks.
This is now being used as an excuse to wage war again in Iraq - because “They have US passports and will come here”.
You don’t need a PhD in international affairs to figure out the problem with this.

Obama, CNN and others want to keep saying, “ISIS.” Let’s always say what it stands for at FR - “Islamic State.”
Such actions would result in the formation of American death squads. The would get non participants but there would be fewer Muslims wanting to participate.
I checked their manpower a few weeks back and it was believed to be around 7,000 or so. Now, purported to be 10-20,000 but still, that is division-level strength at best. Granted, many are jumping on the ISIS bandwagon, but probably as a survival tactic and it doesn’t mean they bring anything to the table but a pulse and an appetite to rob/rape/pillage.
not if they are all dead. just to make sure, kill all their supporters too. that should make the envirowhackos happy too.
