On Saturday, President Obama said the intelligence community underestimated the threat by ISIS which is why he did not act until now:
There is no doubt that their advance, their movement over the last several months has been more rapid than the intelligence estimates and I think the expectations of policymakers both in and outside of Iraq.
Aside from the fact that advances by ISIS has been known to anyone who’s had access to YouTube or Twitter, the Pentagon, when asked if they were caught off guard by ISIS today, tells a completely different story. They responded that the US did know about the threat posed by ISIS all along:
“We have been very clear about the threat posed by ISIS. We have been very consistent about that threat in the region and in Iraq.”
The statement from the General is more damaging when you consider that it is a direct response to a question that according to some reports the White House was caught off guard.
Truth is this will not at all damage Obama’s credibility if the GOP machine does not line up to point this General’s comment.

No inside “intelligence” needed in this case. Every average person out there that even catches occasional news knows what ISIS is all about - rounding up and butchering people. Not hard to figure out. Obama is really imploding. His amateurish act is getting increasingly hard even for dems to swallow. However to outright reject him means admitting they were wrong so many will try to avoid piling on
Next thing you know Obama will appoint a horse to his cabinet.
I take that back, he’s already appointed a horses’ ass as Secretary of State, John Kerry.

What sucks is that we only see this on RIGHT WING websites - if you had a Republican President in the same situation, it would be PLASTERED EVERYWHERE.
(one of the reasons I have a bit of sympathy regarding how Putin deals with a hostile media)

I don't think he has nearly that capacity to the extent that we saw that Bill Clinton but it was there enough in every stage of his career to enable him, despite absence of evident achievement (as noted in your definition) to advance to the next stage. For example, he manipulated the black leaders of the Chicago political scene, he manipulated the situation Harvard to become president of the Law Review, he manipulated George Soros to throw his support from Hillary to Obama, he learned how to manipulate audiences with his speeches.
I concede that his arrogance often leads him to distain manipulating people, such as Congressman, and to assume a posture of hauteur when he judges that his personal needs do not warrant the effort to manipulate. Witness his treatment in the White House of Prime Minister Netanyahu.

A talking head on FOX tonight speculated on air that Obama delayed trying to bomb the ISIS forces that had surrounded the Christians on the Mountain in order to apply additional public and political pressure on the leaders of the Iraq Government to force out al Maiiki (sp?), the current PM.
Made sense that B. Hussein would do it, as Obama has zero empathy for the suffering of Muslim targets of opportunity.
After all, “Never let a crisis go to waste!”
