France Calls for Immediate Shipment of Arms to Kurds

12.08.2014

BasNews, Erbil

France Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius again asked for an urgent meeting of  European countries’ Foreign Ministers to discuss immediate arms shipments to the Kurdistan Region for use against Islamic State (IS) militants.

“It is necessary to help Kurds and Iraqis and give them help to fight IS insurgents. It needs to be impressed on them that IS insurgents wish to kill all those that don’t have the same ideology, thinking and religion as them,” said Fabius.

“They [IS group] are targeting Iraq, Syria, Jordan, Israel and Palestine,” added Fabius.

He also stated that: “The battlefield is less than 120 Km from Baghdad and Baghdad has become a city in that battlefield, as well all the roads. Tanks and heavy weapons have been deployed.”

Asked about the date of a meeting with the foreign ministers of European countries, Fabius told France Info that: “So far the time and date of the meeting has not been determined but I emphasize we need to hold this meeting to be held as soon as possible.”

“Italian Foreign Minister Federica Mugherini and I have asked European Union Foreign Minister Catherine Ashton to hold the meeting as soon as possible. I hope the date will be soon be determined,” added Fabius.

“We can sit in our places and say unfortunately we can’t do anything, but this is not our reaction. We can’t sit and do nothing while we see large number of people getting killed,” added Fabius.

On Sunday, Fabius visited Baghdad and Erbil and stated, “Due to the imbalance in terms of weaponry between the Kurdish and Iraqi armies and IS militants, it has become easy for IS insurgents to occupy Iraqi territories quickly. With the cooperation of the European Union, we have to think about giving weapons to Kurdish Peshmerga forces.”

This is a manifest evil just as malignant as the rise of the Nazis, if not more so, because of the number of adherents and sympathizers. Will the world again make the mistake of waiting until the malignancy has fully metastasized?

“,,We can’t sit and do nothing while we see large number of people getting killed,” ..’

Plus, Europe, or the U.S., could be next.

Yes. A thousand times yes.

Sad that the French are now the defenders of the West.

Notice the article mentions nothing about the US. Some have said that Obama was slow to the action of supplying the Kurds, that the UK, France and Germany were there first.

The dog barks but the caravan moves on, Obama.
(of course, he wouldn’t understand the meaning of the proverb. as Obama is in his own little world.)

France should put a tax on their hommie muzzies to pay for buying and shipping the arms from France.

>Sad that the French are now the defenders of the West.<

.
Too many Americans have decided that the US should no longer be the ‘policeman of the world’.

France has a culture much older than that of the US. Perhaps it finally realized that as a Christian nation it cannot sit on the sidelines and do nothing when other Christians are being slaughtered.

After all, France did join the Crusades against Islam long before the founding of the US.

I wouldn't go that far.

This is far worse than the rise of the Nazis because what's happening is out there for the whole world to see. The govs can't say they didn't know what was going on this time.

The ineptitude is astounding. After the first day ISIS entered Mosul, it was quite clear that ISIS has to be disintegrated. They're pure evil.

Just saying that France is a “Christian” nation is a bit of a stretch these days.

Some have said that Obama was slow to the action of supplying the Kurds,

Reason being that Obama hadn't read about the plight of the Kurds in the newspapers yet................
