A news crew, clearly no threat or impediment to the cops, films from a verge in Ferguson, Missouri. A pop and a cloud of white smoke marks the arrival of a tear gas canister at their feet, and the newscrew is forced to flee.

They have no special constitutional protections. They have the same constitutional protection as any other citizen.
If they did, exactly who is and is not a journalist would be spelled out in the constitution, along with a list of limitations and responsibilities.

It’s a bitter pill for some to swallow that a fellow citizen, even if a personal enemy, has the same constitutional protections they enjoy.

If you don’t like what they are saying, then get out there with your own equipment and publish your opposing views. Don’t gas them and silence them with superior firepower.
I garauntee those JBT’s would never use that military hardware to protect a citizen or his property. All of those goodies are to protect themselves as they go out and play soldier. They are all on edge now becuase there is real danger instead of their normal diet of kicking in doors and dragging bewildered families out of their beds in the middle of the night.
If the gassed reporters worked for anyone other than AJ, would there even be a disucssion about who is in the wrong?

So let them lie, distort as they wish. Is it up to the government to gas someone because they think they’ll lie and distort the message they may deliver?
AJ wasn’t the only media being attacked. The cops were going after anyone with a camera.
Also, Ferguson Police were ordered off the streets early. This was St. Louis County PD in charge.
Clearly, they didn’t want the media to see what was happening, and were attacking them to keep the cameras away.

The website this comes from is a left wing website.
The cops were there dealing with some kind of criminal activity. Like chasing looters or reports of gunfire or houses broken into. They weren’t there to get a tan.
This news crew, unidentified btw, was likely asked several times to LEAVE THE AREA.
They had spotlights set up and aimed into the eyes of the cops, INTERFERING with the operation they were performing.
Notice that the first thing the cops did was gently lay down the spotlights. They took care not to damage anything.
The ‘news crew’ , especially the guy with the nice Muslim style beard, were endangering themselves, the public, and the police. Other ‘news crews’ have found that they must film discretely. This wasn’t discrete.
FOR ALL WE KNOW, this ‘alleged news crew’ could have been videoing directly to some website on the internet, giving all the rioters (for lack of a better word) a live picture of police activity at that location.
Don’t fall for this attempt by the left to further incite violence across the nation. Don’t fall for what may be coordinated criminal activity.
The KKK used to hold a march in Pulaski, TN, the birthplace of the KKK, every MLK birthday. When the news crews stopped coming, the marches either ended or have become so small as to be insignificant. I haven’t heard about another march in years.
