My wife tries to convince me that the radicals are interpreting the Koran incorrectly and that it is a religion of peace.

The point is, they are interpreting it their way and butchering thousands - soon to be millions. Remember, Islam means Submission; submit and have peace, otherwise die sucker!

I told her that it is a religion of peace. But only for fellow muslims who are members of the same sect. Everyone else is fair game.

Apparently, keeping Islam down is a matter of self preservation for those of a Personal Liberty bent. Holy has nothing to do with it.

"Christians have waged Holy War in the past, most notably in the Crusades. "

The Crusades were organized by the Roman Catholic Church to push the Islamists out of ehe European countries they had conquered. They conquered as far as eastern Spain. From my searches there were 9 Crusades that never seemed to last more than 200 years before the Islamists took over again. If you wish to call this a Holy War then I guess it is technically true, but it is also a war against evil.

The popes used declared crusades to fight their political and religious enemies for almost 500 years and it’s pretty tough to assert that they were all battles against evil. Or Holy.

Many were proclaimed against Hussites, Russian Orthodox and other Christians. Even the Holy Roman Emperor and Italian noble families.

Unless I’m confused, Canadian human rights commissions have been disassembled since they made the serious mistake of trying to prosecute Mark Steyn.

Yes, power has always corrupted. The Catholic Church also condoned theft from Aztecs and Mayans if they got their cut. But today they are not nearly as bad as the Islamists.

Actually it is a little more complicated and confusing than that. Complaints to the Conservative Government about the activities of the federal human rights commission, and probably the case of Mark Steyn, lead to the repeal of the FEDERAL law. It probably helped that we had a Conservative majority, and that 99% percent of delegates at their convention voted to work to repeal the bad law. It was actually Macleans and Mark Steyn that were hauled and they were actually hauled before the British Columbia human rights tribunal. The tribunal realized it bit more than it could chew going after an organization so public and large as Macleans, so it has given up on going after big people, but small people are still game unfortunately. What we still have is human rights commissions in 9 out of 10 provinces. (I believe Saskatchewan has a commission but it has been defanged). They are still active and still persecuting basically white male Christians. Muslims that chant hate are NEVER brought before a commission.
