Landrieu to reimburse taxpayers for private charter flight to fundraiser that may have broken law

Oops:

Sen. Mary Landrieu (D., La.) has decided to reimburse her Senate office $5,700 for a chartered flight from New Orleans to Shreveport for an official event, then Shreveport to Dallas for a fundraiser.

Federal law and Senate rules require expenses to be split between campaign and Senate accounts when campaign functions overlap with official business.

CNN:

Under federal law and Senate rules, the cost of a trip that includes official and campaign stops must often be prorated between Senate and campaign accounts.

Some observers note that the Democrat-controlled Senate passed Obamacare "after a series of unsavory transactions that purchased the aye votes of several shrewdly extortionate Democrats"....with a huge pile of money still unaccounted for.

The most unsavory was Landrieu's $4.3 billion "Louisisana Purchase."

THE PAPER TRAIL IS HUGE Sen Landrieu (Scumocrat-LA) sold her aye vote in what Forbes Magazine dubbed "The 'Louisiana Purchase" that included a massive $4.3 Billion to Landrieu

FORBES REPORTED the Democrats’ nailed Landrieu’s support for Obamacare w/ a greenback bribe. Landrieu, critics believe, pledged her vote in exchange for some $200 million more additional federal funds for Louisiana. Except that, due to a drafting error, the law ended up giving Louisiana $4.3 billion: more than twenty times the assigned amount. MORE HERE http://www.forbes.com/fdc/welcome_mjx.shtml

===============================================

BACKSTORY In the fall of 2009, Sen. Harry Reid (D-Nev.) was trying to get the necessary 60 Dimocrat votes to pass the Affordable Care Act. He needed every Dim on board, which gave waffling senators a great deal of leverage. In Landrieu's case, she connivingly saw that selling her aye vote could get her maybe $200 million federal dollars. Obama complied. Reid chalked up another vote for Obamacare. But not the measly $200 million but $4.3 billon was attached to the Obamacare bill earmarked for Landrieu.

=================================================

How $4.3 billion to Landrieu was calculatedly attached to the Obamacare bill, and how Obama and Reid failed to catch and fix it, is yet another indictment of the Obamacare atrocity. The payoff to Landrieu should be investigated as an indication of how EVERY Democrat came to vote for Obamacare....and will help elect more lock-stepping Democrats.

She’s a Louisiana Democrat. Its in her genes to break campaign laws. But then again, I’m sure the MSM will pussy-foot around this issue and not flat out say she broke the law so it doesn’t add too much water to her already sinking ship of a campaign.

One of the silly justifications for the 17th Amendment was that direct elections would stop the corruption of senate votes.

Sorry.

But Senator Landrieu is running for her fourth term as a Democratic Senator from Louisiana.

An apology is appropriate for a first term Congress Critter. But for someone conducting her fourth senatorial campaign? Restitution, a large fine, and removal from leadership positions for three years is far more appropriate for an experienced Politian.

Harsh?

Not really since how much does an apology cost? How likely is her apology to deter fellow Congress Critters from doing the same thing?

BLUF - A apologies from a child is far more appropriate in this case than an apology from an adult.

A bank robber is nabbed by police as she’s leaving the bank she just robbed. She hands the money to the cops and says “Here. This is reimbursement for the money I just stole.” Cop says “Okay. Thanks. Have a nice day.” (From “Adventures in Landrieu Land”)

if you enjoy ionic humor, watch political ads in Louisiana. Landrieu has the NERVE to run a spot against a doctor who is opposing her by calling him a ..MILLIONAIRE!! We shouldn’t vote for taxcuts for millionaires, or doctors who vote like politicians!! I almost wet my pants when I saw that one. Landrieu’s family has been sucking off the public teat for generations. They are ALL millionaires who think they are entitled to public office. So now a doctor who votes like a politician is baaaad. How about a politician who votes like a politician? Talk about insult people’s intelligence...but this is Louisiana. It will probably work since the millionaire is going to pay back this paltry sum.
