A 6'4", 300 lbs guy does not NEED a weapon to be a deadly threat to a much smaller man. The store owner would have been perfectly justified in shooting the guy the moment he touched the clerk.
No one knew if he was armed or not until he was down and searched. The media crowing “unarmed teen” suggests that the cops should have x-ray vision. They just wanted to characterize him as being harmless.

Please define ‘armed’. George Zimmerman’s attorney showed in court that a finger can be a weapon. ‘Armed’ is a misnomer.
