My nephew-in-law was the driver in the lead tank into Baghdad.
He has one of the viewing prisms with a bullet hole in it mounted on his wall.

Was your son in the 3rd ID or Marine Armor? If 3rd ID, my son’s unit, 299th MRB, put up the Ribbon bridge for the light armor and trucks to cross the Euphrates River at Hindaya, Objective Peace, April 3rd. Part of the 299th and 54th Combat Engineer Battalion launched an amphibious assault on the east bank of the river, drove out Iraqi defenders (with a lot of great artillery and air support, and had Ordnance men disarm the explosives on the main concrete bridge.

This successful seizure allowed the Abrams tanks to cross over safely and then lead the drive on Baghdad.

Interestingly, the father of a friend of mine in my synagogue was the commander/lead tank of the US 3rd Armor unit that seized the bridge at Remagen during WW2. His name was Brenmen.

I guess we can collectively say, tanks a lot of their bravery.
