This is further proof that if the SHTF scenario (even partially) plays out in America, you had better be well-armed and ready for unpleasantness. If you believe the police or any other government group will protect you, your family and your property, you are, at best, naive. This is especially true if you are in or near a urban area full of ferals. Be prepared, Citizen. It appears that ever-growing unpleasantness awaits many...if not all.

To prevent murder charges, store owners should have guards with tazers who taze looters as many times as necessary before the police can come and haul the criminals off to jail. After a while people will hopefully figure out that it will be VERY painful to loot there because you may be tazed for the next 24 hours or however long it takes the police to arrive...
A sign on the door and somebody on a bullhorn making sure even illiterate people are forewarned might also stave off lawsuits.
But, a likely scenario is as follows:
You and your family successfully defend your lives, home and possessions from assault by a roving gang of feral "yutes". You've held them off outside Molotov throwing range with proper weaponry and good marksmanship. Those who survived are in retreat and there are a number of dead and dying scattered about.
Law enforcement, which has been extremely busy of late, finally arrives. They assess the situation, check on your well being, then disarm you and leave.
You cannot rely on the police. Trust in yourselves and be ready to defend yourselves.
I don’t need the police. If trouble seeks me out, I will respond accordingly.
I’ve been having conversations with people on this topic and they don’t believe it will play out this way. I just keep pointing to ferguson and other places.
