As an aside, this article has cleared up something for me. I was in Texas a number of times in the 70s and I had always understood that “Texas Open Container Law” as requiring you to have one.

I had always understood that Texas Open Container Law as requiring you to have one. LOL. They changed in the 80's. When I arrived in '83 everyone except the driver could have an open container. That changed again in '85, at the same time the drinking age went to 21.
