On the one hand, cops should be able to handle an unarmed attacker without shooting him. On the other hand if this Brown guy was the guy in the video of the store robbery, he was built like the Frankenstein monster. If he did rush a cop and was NOT shot beforehand, he might have been on drugs.

That old expression, “Feels no pain”, comes into play here. Someone who is seriously drunk or on drugs feels no pain. For a totally out-of-control individual,pepper spray will only piss ‘em off further. If you use a baton, a broken clavical will render that arm unusable. But for that, you have to be close to the person, close enough where he/she can over-power you and take your weapons from you and create ever more mayhem. So...what are you going to do?
Reports that I’ve seen put Brown at 6’ 4” and about 300 pounds. “Unarmed” does not equal “not dangerous”.
If only the officer knew what was in Brown’s mind. Wait, he could. The earlier scuffle for the officer’s gun in the police car leaves no mystery of his intent when he charged. One of them wasn’t going home alive. The officer knew that he was going to have to fight for his gun again if Brown closed the distance.
I assume they are going to do drug toxicology test on Michael Brown. that may shed some light on all this.
Yeah, the dude was huge. He was a deadly weapon if he got his hands on the cop.
I wonder what the toxicology screen will reveal. Some drugs can make people highly aggressive and superhumanly strong.
